Over 3,000 homes left without power supply
Date published: 07 June 2011
Over three thousand homes in Smallbridge and surrounding areas were left without power last night (6 June) for around three hours following an underground cable fault.
A total of 3,636 properties lost power at 10.35pm. By midnight all but 16 houses had their power restored.
The 16 properties are still without power today (7 June) after a second fault was discovered.
Electricity North West had engineers working on the problem until 6.00am today.
A spokesperson said that back up generators were being sent to the affected homes and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
