Eleven arrested after firearms recovered

Eleven men have been arrested after police recovered two firearms and ammunition in Middleton.
On Wednesday 1 June 2011, police were informed that a potential disorder was due to take place in the Manchester area.
At about 1.30pm, officers, including armed response units, went to Bowness Road, Middleton, after reports a large group of men had gathered.
Rochdale Online understands around 100 people from two rival families had gathered for an arranged fight.
Shops on Bowness Road were closed and alleyways were cordoned off by police.
Officers arrested 11 men on suspicion of firearms offences and recovered two firearms and ammunition.
The men remain in custody for questioning by officers from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team.
