Heywood residents get involved in centre’s future

Date published: 02 June 2011

A new group has set up to help Heywood residents shape the future of the town’s Phoenix Centre.

The Phoenix Legacy Group comprises of eight local volunteers from various backgrounds and has been formed to ensure the centre meets the needs of the local community for the future.

Meeting four times a year, the group will work with local NHS organisations, the council and other partners to raise issues, concerns and compliments about services, facilities and the patient and customer experience.

Member of the group, Beverley Jones, said: “The community has played a vital role since day one of the Phoenix Centre’s existence, even before it was developed. It’s important that we continue to have this influence on the centre to make it a place that our town can be proud of and want to visit.”

Nicola Crosby from NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale, who has helped to establish the group, said: “It’s really important that the Phoenix Centre provides the services Heywood residents want. The centre was built for the local community so it is only right that they stay involved in shaping its future.”

Heywood’s Phoenix Centre opened to residents in November 2009 providing a range of health, council and community services.

Anyone with any comments, compliments, feedback, concerns or issues about the centre and its services can raise them through the group by calling a freephone number at NHS HMR on 0800 121 4406.
