Date published: 01 June 2011

Springhill Hospice’s annual Children’s Voices for Hospice Concert will take place at the Gracie Fields Theatre on Sunday 12 June, commencing at 3.00pm.

School choirs from Deeplish Primary, Tonacliffe County Primary, Holy Trinity C of E Primaryl, Whittaker Moss Primary, Holy Family RC Primary, Shawclough Primary, Smithybridge Primary, St. Patrick’s RC Primary, St. Vincent’s RC Primary, Sacred Heart RC Primary and Oulder Hill Community School will take to the stage alongside Middleton Junior Choir, Rochdale Girls Choir and Rochdale Boys Choir.

Musicians from Rochdale Youth Wind Orchestra will provide accompaniment and the concert will once again be compered by Bacup-based actor, Eric Potts, best known as the baker Diggory Compton in ITV’s Coronation Street.

Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “The Children’s Voices for Hospice Concert has, over the last two decades, become established as a great showcase for the young talent that we have around the Borough.

“The Hospice is indebted to Richard Charles, James Lewis and Kate Mellors from Rochdale Music Service for all their help in putting this year’s concert together, and to the participating choirs, their teachers and accompanists.

"It should be a great event and we’re hoping that, with support from friends and families of those taking part, we can fill the theatre and raise some vital funds for Springhill Hospice.”

Tickets, priced at £6.00 adult, £3.00 concessionary, £17.00 family (2 adults and 2 con.) are available now from participating schools, Rochdale Tourist Information Centre, Touchstones, The Esplanade, Rochdale, Rochdale Music Service, Fieldhouse School, Greenbank Road, Rochdale and Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office, Broad Lane, Rochdale.
