Dancers get their boogie shoes on for arena show

Date published: 28 May 2011

Dancers from Kirsten’s Dance Academy in Mossley took to the stage at the Middleton Arena this afternoon (Saturday 28 May) for a showcase of their finest dancing.

Their show, ‘Boogie Shoes,’ opened last night and is a showcase of 27 different dances performed by over two hundred dancers from the ‘Tinies’ group to the ‘Adult Tap’ group.

The audience were treated to a whole host of dancing performed to a variety of music. Examples include the ‘Pre primary’ group dancing to ‘Blame it on the boogie,’ the ‘Senior Modern’ group performing to ‘When love takes over’ and ‘Modern 1’ dancing to ‘Kids in America.’

This year is the first time the dance academy has performed in Middleton after outgrowing their previous space at the Hyde Festival Theatre.

The dance academy was set up by Kirsten Hampson, she said: “We are very excited this year as we are performing at a new venue, not only is the Middleton Arena much more modern than Hyde Festival Theatre but also much bigger. It has taken us a while to get used to just how big the stage is.

“The students have done an amazing job; they really have worked super hard.”

Kirsten’s dad, Graham, said: “We had a really good opening night last night, the audience seem to really like the venue and the show, it went very well.”
