Manchester United victory parade

Passengers and motorists are being advised to plan for significant disruption and changes to public transport and the roads on bank holiday Monday.

Large numbers of people are expected in the city centre when Manchester United FC holds its victory parade.

The annual Whit walks are also taking place.

As a result, people should expect city centre roads and bus, train and tram services to be busier and should allow extra time for their journeys.

The following bus services will be affected by both events: 8, 12, 10, 26, 31, 33, 36, 37, 50, 53, 63, 67, 70, 84, 93, 96, 98, 100, 138, 197, 250, X50, 255, 256, 263, X41, X43 and Metroshuttles 1 and 2.

There will be additional trams for Metrolink passengers, with more double trams being made available. Regular service updates are available at www.metrolink.co.uk

The football parade is due to start at 10.00am at Manchester Cathedral and will travel down Deansgate to Chester Road, Bridgewater viaduct, Bridgewater Way, White City, Wharfside Way, Sir Matt Busby Way, Warwick Road, onto Talbot Road before ending at Trafford town hall.

There will also be diversions and road closures in place for the Manchester and Salford annual Whit walks.

The walks start from Salford and Manchester Cathedrals at 10.45am and make their way to Albert Square in Manchester.

At 12.45 a single procession will take place from Albert Square back to the respective cathedrals.

From Albert Square, the parade will go to Princess Street, Cooper Street, Fountain Street, Spring Gardens, King Street, Cross Street onto Deansgate and to Manchester Cathedral. The Salford churches will then continue onto Chapel Street to Salford Cathedral.
