Police message ahead of Man Utd parade
Date published: 29 May 2011
Greater Manchester Police is urging Manchester United fans to make their victory parade a memorable occasion for the club.
Thousands of fans are expected to line the streets of Manchester city centre on Monday (30 May 2011), following their teams' 19th title win and officers are urging fans to enjoy themselves in a responsible manner as the team parade the trophy on an open top bus.
Assistant Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: "This is a time for Manchester United fans to celebrate their win and I would like to congratulate them on their club's success.
"I would remind supporters to take note of the on-street alcohol ban restricting drinking alcohol in public places.
"The parade will be attended by a lot of families and I would urge all those attending to enjoy the unique atmosphere but behave in a responsible way.
"We did all this just a week ago with Manchester City and it was a fantastic success - I hope the United fans do their club just as proud."
