Man assaulted in pub

Date published: 27 May 2011

A man has been assaulted as he left a pub in Rochdale.

At around 7pm on Saturday 21 May 2011, the 33-year-old victim was leaving Oxford Inn, Whitworth Road, Syke when he was verbally abused by a man in the pub car park.
The man then attacked the victim with a wine glass, causing him injuries to the face. His attacker drove off in a white car in the direction of Whitworth.

He is described as being white, stocky build, 5ft 8in tall, in his 30s, had black hair and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Janice Cruttwell from Rochdale CID said: “The victim has been left shaken by his ordeal and his injuries may leave him with a permanent reminder of this violent attack. We believe two women were walking a dog near to the car park when the attack happened and would urge them or anyone who saw something to contact us.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8437 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
