Fire at Sartex Quilts and Textiles

There is one man who is still unaccounted for following a blaze at a commercial building in Rochdale.

The fire, at the building owned by Sartex Quilts and Textiles Ltd, started at around 6.00pm this evening (25 May).

A relative of the building’s owner told Rochdale Online that four of the five people working in the building at the time had left, but the fifth man is still missing.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service, said: “There is still one person who is unaccounted for. We are currently working to establish that location, it may be at home or it may be elsewhere.”

The relative said the fire started from a spark from a new piece of machinery which ignited the electric supply of the building.
