Christian Aid:
Thank you very much for all your support for this very worthy cause. We raised £355.65 from the envelope collections, Green Day and the coffee afternoon. This has been run in conjunction with St. Martin’s Church and together we raised a total of £660.

Film Club:
Film Club will start again after half term.

Dance Competition:
The children did really well and came 5th. They all really enjoyed themselves.

Baby Goats:
Our goat Sky has had 2 babies, a girl named Moonlight and a boy named Moonbeam.

Swimming Gala:
Mrs. Taylor is really proud of all the swimmers who did really well at the gala. The next galas are on 6th June at Rochdale Baths and 8 June at Castleton Baths.
There is no swimming training this Friday morning.

Road Safety:
This week Anwar from the Road Safety team has been in school working with Year 3 and Year 5 children.

Dinner Money:
Please send dinner money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Lunches are now £1.75 per day - £8.75 per week and should be paid on a Monday morning.

School Lunches:
There is a copy of the menus on our school portal. After half term we will be on Week 2.
Dinner Time:
At lunchtime the children are seated at tables that have the names of different countries above them. There is information about each country to encourage informative discussions. During the next half term we are planning to have ‘theme’ lunches which will feature foods from one of the countries, i.e. Italian Day. These days will always be on a Wednesday. Also weather permitting we will be having a weekly picnic which will take place on a Friday. Each week there will be a slip on the back of the newsletter that you can fill in for your child if they do not normally stay for dinner and want to join in these lunches. Please note if your child normally stays for dinner, they do not need to do anything.

Music Lessons:
Music fees for this half term are now due. Lessons are now £2.85 per week. Please pay any outstanding music fees in order for lessons to continue.

Summer Fair:
Our Summer Fair is on Friday 1 July at 3.15pm. After half term we will be collecting donations for ‘Good as New’, toys, etc.

Castleton Children’s Centre:
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s on Wednesday mornings 9.30am-10.30am.

Eco News:
After half term we have some visitors from Bowlee and Heybrook Schools coming to look round school and visit the animals.

BIKE-IT – Thursdays:
Bike-It will start again after half term. Anyone coming to school on their bike will be given a free raffle ticket to go in the draw for a new bike at the end of the year. Those children who come on their bikes on a Thursday can have a free breakfast as long as they are in no later than 8.30am.
If they come on their bike any other day they will be given a raffle ticket but free breakfasts will only be given on a Thursday.

Half Term:
School closes Friday, 27 May at the normal time and re-opens on Monday 6 June.
