A talented student from Heywood is celebrating after winning a college award.
James Boyce, 17, has won the Headmaster’s Award for Services to St Bede’s College in South Manchester.
Mr Boyce received the award for his assiduous support in various areas, helping out in the library, playing the school organ for various services, being an integral part of the school orchestra and setting up his own guitar group.
He said: “I was shocked, and thrilled, to win the award. Shocked because I find everything I do really enjoyable and I did not expect to win anything, and thrilled, as now I can have a permanent reminder of the great seven years that I have had at St Bede's, which have gone so quickly.”
The A-level student who is sitting his A-levels in Physics, Maths and Geography a year early, has already received five University offers.
However, he hopes to start Airline Pilot Training at Oxford Aviation Academy and become one of the UK’s youngest Airline Pilots.
