Oulder Hill Community School
School is closed for half term next week and will reopen at the usual time on Monday 6 June. We would like to wish everyone a happy and relaxing break.
Congratulations to all who took part in the Dance Showcase last week. It was a fantastic hour’s entertainment and the quality of performances was exceptional.
Well done to our Year 9 rounders team who beat Middleton Technology School last week by 12 ½ points to 3 ½. The team was Aroosa Hussain, Taylor Wolfenden, Alivia Marshall, Sophie Byrne, Mollie Crabtree, Abi Spruce, Clarissa Barker, Jess Bogusz, Chloe Cunningham, Jade Lindsay and Lydia Barlow-Fell.
We would also like to congratulate out Year 7 and 8 cricket team who beat Falinge Park High School last week. After Falinge had made 36 runs off their 10 overs there was a nail-biting finish in which Oulder Hill won on the very last ball. We look forward to seeing how the team does against Siddall Moor in their next match. The team consisted of Subnaan Ali, James Schofield, Oliver Greenwood, Sadat Ibrahim, Luke Barrett, Mutjtaba Ali, Ellis Taylor, Bailey Smyth, Kai Creswell and Rehan Mazhar.
Once again a student from Oulder Hill has obtained the prestigious ‘Young Enterprise Student of the Year’ award for Rochdale and Oldham. The award has been achieved by an Oulder Hill student for two consecutive years. This year our winner was Chelsea Mulleeney, Managing Director of our Year 11 Enterprise Company ‘Bright Ideas.’ Chelsea and her team had run their company successfully over two years, running ‘Oulder Hill’s got Talent’, our school talent show and selling various products including chocolates and jewelry.
On Friday 20 May, a group of Year 9 Academic Mentoring students designed and created an international meal for a select group of staff and students. They produced a mouth watering assortment of dishes which were then displayed and tasted by the lucky few who were invited. Menu’s and a brief report on each country’s culinary history were also produced by the group and these, alongside photographs and video footage of the team running the event, will contribute to an evidence folder which will support them in achieving the NCFE level 2 qualification in ‘Working Together.’
