The Lower Prep children are very proud that they have passed the Gold Award for Golden Grin again this week. The children have healthy and nutritious snacks, value the importance of healthy teeth and do not have sweets at school.

Recently having members of Arifah Tahir’s family pass away from cancer, Arifah (Year 10), decided that she wanted to raise money for Cancer Research. The money would go towards helping relieve other families suffering from the loss of loved ones, and also to try and stop cancer affecting more and more people. A fancy dress day at school was organised by her - the ideal way to raise money for a worthwhile cause, followed by a snack sale at lunchtime. A grand total of £330 was raised. The day was a complete success and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks to all who took part.

The Under 9 soccer team played in their soccer tournament. They lost their first game 0-1 to Holy Trinity. Some excellent goalkeeping by Gareth Tatersall and a breakaway goal by Joe Noon gave the team a 1-0 victory over St. John’s RC. A poor performance against St. Mary’s resulted in a 0-6 defeat. The boys, however, bounced back in their final game against St. James. Beech House scored first, again an excellent solo effort, this time by Yusif Siddique. However they could not hold on and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Upper Prep Swimming team competed in the first round of the Rochdale Primary Swimming League. The boys’ team scored 9 points and are currently in fifth place, whilst the girls scored 12 points and are in fourth place.
