A prolific Rochdale burglar responsible for almost twenty offences has been jailed.
Gareth Lanyon, 20, of Kirkstall Avenue, Littleborough, admitted three counts of burglary. A further 16 similar offences were taken into consideration.
At Bolton Crown Court today (Tuesday 24 May 2011), he was jailed for three years.
Lanyon carried out his one-man crime spree over a six month period, targeting homes predominantly in the Littleborough, Starring and Caldermoor areas.
Police Sergeant Craig Mayberry, of the Pennine Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Behind every burglary is a family whose homes have been violated and valuable and sentimental possessions stolen.
“Lanyon was a one-man crime spree who targeted the homes of many local residents and our community is undoubtedly safer now he is behind bars.
“Burglary is a top priority not only for the Pennine area but the whole of Greater Manchester and we will do all we can to identify and bring to justice those responsible for such offences.”
