Delight at Good Samaritan’s generosity

Date published: 23 May 2011

Children at the Freehold after school club are all smiles, thanks to a Good Samaritan.

A few weeks ago, a man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, found £150 in cash lying on the ground in the Freehold Housing Estate. He handed the money into Freehold Housing Office in the hope that the person who had lost it would soon realise their mistake and come to collect it.

After several weeks no one claimed the money so staff at the housing office contacted the man, offering him the money. However, he declined and said he would rather donate it to the Freehold after school club.

This went towards purchasing a Nintendo Wii to the delight of the children of Freehold.

Community Support Officer Janice Alfrey, said: “All the staff at the housing office and particularly the children of Freehold would like to offer our deepest thanks to this Good Samaritan for his uncommon gesture and generosity.”

Mohammad Azhar representing the group, added: “We at Freehold Community Group are working with many young children who cannot afford to purchase games like Wii and they are appreciating this gift and will use it for years to come”.
