Date published: 23 May 2011

A man was taken to hospital following a fire involving a cooker in the kitchen of a Rochdale house this morning (23 May).

Three fire crews from Rochdale and Littleborough were called to Stonie Heyes Avenue at 5.23am where they were faced with a fire in the kitchen of a mid terraced property.

The man had self rescued prior to the fire service arrival. He was treated with oxygen therapy by the fire service because he was suffering from smoke inhalation and was later conveyed to hospital.

Crews used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus.
