Leader merges committees

Council Leader, Councillor Colin Lambert has decided to merge some of the Council’s committees in a bid to reduce bureaucracy.
Policy, Performance and Audit will become one committee.
Regulatory and Licensing will be merged into one committee.
And, Democratic Structure and Member Training will be merged.
Councillor Lambert said: “The aim is to slim down bureaucracy and make the council more efficient and bring the scrutiny of the council under one heading to give it some teeth.”
Consultation is also due to start on whether or not to devolve decision making to Township level.
Councillor Lambert said: “From tonight it is our intention to consult on merging or devolving decision making to Township.
“We will be looking to devolve services, although corporate services are important to everyone the borough is made up of distinct areas and Townships where priorities differ and where they differ has to be recognised.”
