Traders remind customers ‘Drake Street is open for business’
Date published: 18 May 2011
Traders on Drake Street are reminding customers that they are ‘open for business’ despite the current Metrolink works.
Staff at the shops are keen to emphasise to those who may be put off by the road works that it simply is business as usual - and there is parking available for those popping in.
Philip Buckley, from Denis Hope, said: “We have got some fantastic stock in for spring/summer and we are doing well despite the economy and the road works on the street – we are still buzzing.”
He added: “There is parking on Drake Street at the top and we are worth the trouble to get to if you want good quality clothing and service.”
Mike Moore from Pennine Photographic and Binocular Centre, explained: “The way I’m seeing it is the very loyal customer base we have keep turning up which is fabulous, people who visit us from out of town are still coming and finding us.
“We are here and we are trading and we are having the same support as we always have which is fabulous.”
Margaret Theobold from Brides of Rochdale was keen to emphasis that the “good quality service” is, as always, still on offer.
She added: “We have now also got a car park at the side of the shop and don’t forget the alteration side of the business; we offer a proper fitting and alteration.”
Graham Oddie from S1 Hair said his message would be “Get here!” He added: “We are the best in the country. We don’t need any special offers because once people have been they are happy.”
Lisa Lakatos from Noahs Ark Children’s Activity Centre, said: “We don’t open all the time, we just open for private parities – we only open all the time during the schools holidays, so I suppose really it is business as usual.”
A spokesperson for Rocks Off, added: “We’re still here trying to do some business. It would be nice to let people know that we’re still here.”
Assma Khan from Head Over Heels, said: “We’re still open as usual even though there is work going on.”
Pete McCoye from the Accordion Shop and Alison Pianos simply said: “It’s business as usual.”
