Woman bailed over abandoned baby investigation

A 28-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of concealment of a birth after a report that a baby was abandoned in Edenfield near Rochdale has been released on police bail.

The woman from Whitefield, Bury, has been released pending further enquires.

Information was received on Tuesday (10 May) that a young woman had given birth and left her baby wrapped in a blanket in a bag by the side of Rochdale Road.

Officers attended and found a bag containing a blanket, a lady's purple top and an amount of blood, but have not recovered a baby or foetus.
