Howard Street opens its refurbished doors

Date published: 09 May 2011

Howard Street Sure Start Children’s Centre has reopened its doors this week as building work is now complete.

The long overdue refurbishment has seen rooms being redesigned to fit the Centre’s growing needs as it continues to serve families in Falinge and Spotland as Rochdale’s longest established children’s centre.

As well as the usual timetable, the refit has enabled spaces for ante natal and post natal appointments with the midwife and health visitors are also holding a baby clinic.

Appointments are also now available with Citizen’s Advice, who will be at the centre each week to speak to families with children aged 5 and under.

Linzi Baxter Centre Leader said “We’d just like to let all our families and colleagues know that Howard Street is now up and running.

“After months of building work and disruption the centre is now running a full timetable of sessions.

“I would like to thank the families and children who use the centre for their patience, and the staff for still delivering a quality service whilst all the work has been going on, but we are sure you will find the new Howard Street was worth the wait.”
