A igo public transport travel pass
www.tfgm.com/igo Young people in Rochdale must carry their new igo card from Monday 16 May to claim the concessionary fare for their bus journeys.
From 16 May, it will be compulsory for secondary school pupils aged 11 - 16 to show their igo card, a new look photo ID travel pass, to travel for the concessionary fare on Greater Manchester's buses.
Susan Wildman, Director of Communications and Customer Services at Transport for Greater Manchester, said: "The igo card has been available since October, but we want to remind young people that from 16 May, they won't be able to claim the concessionary fare without one.
"We've already written to parents via secondary schools across Greater Manchester to explain how the igo card works and why students will need one, and we've also visited schools to talk to young people face to face.
"The message to young people is: don't forget to carry your igo with you, as you must show it when you travel or buy a ticket.
"If you haven't applied for your card, you need to do so as quickly as possible, or you could find yourself paying the full fare.
"You can download an application form by visiting www.tfgm.com/igo and clicking 'Apply'. You can also pick up a form from Travelshops at main bus stations in Greater Manchester."
For a limited time, the igo pass will also come with a voucher book, offering a range of discounts and offers for local food and entertainment venues, valued at around £60.
Each igo pass costs £5 and will be valid from the date of issue until 31 August after the holder's 16th birthday.
