Beauty Therapy students from Hopwood Hall College have raised money for charity as part of an ‘Enterprise’ themed ‘Focus Week.’
The aim of the week was to inspire and encourage students to think about how they could make a positive contribution in their communities through Social Enterprise, volunteering and setting up their own projects.
The students took part in an Enterprise Competition where they were given the chance to think of an idea and make it happen.
The Learner Participation Team challenged the students to see who could make the most profit from £10. This profit was then donated to a charity of the Tutor Group’s choice.
A spokesperson for the College, said: “The Level 3 VRQ Beauty Therapy students decided to take part and put on their very own charity event at the College’s Rochdale campus. The students designed a beauty stall which consisted of homemade cakes, false eyelash treatments, back massages, and manicure treatments.
“As well as running the stall, the students went into the busy college staffrooms; here, they gave hard working colleagues a 3 minute desk back massage in return for a contribution to the charity.
“The enterprising students managed to raise £136.70 in total which was presented to the Gateway Charity in Rochdale to help to pay for a new mini bus.”
