Food fit for a future King?

It was time for a royal party at the regular healthy eating cookery sessions at Castleton Sure Start Children’s Centre last week.

Mini quiche, mini pizza, sandwiches, bread sticks, samosas, mini pasties, mini scones with jam and cream, butterfly buns, lemon and lime cheesecake and a fruit platter were on the menu as parents worked all morning to prepare the afternoon party for over 100 visitors.

Children were cared for in the creche whilst parents got busy in the kitchen and staff decorated the centre for the party in honour of Kate and William’s wedding.

The party included making wedding crowns, cards and posies of flowers.

There was the ever popular face painting plus outdoor play with bowling, stilts, hula hoops, pin the tail on the corgi and hook a duck.

Parent Empowerment Worker, Marie Clayton said: “It was a fantastic day with approximately 100 people attending. The sun shone all afternoon and everyone enjoyed themselves.  A special thanks to the parents who attended in the morning to make the food.”
