Part of Huddersfield Road closed for repairs

Date published: 07 May 2011

An Emergency Road Closure has been put in place on Huddersfield Road between Ogden Lane and Woodside.

The stretch of road is likely to be closed for 21 days whilst repair works are carried out.

The closure has been put in place to reduce any danger to the public and to minimise the risk of any further damage occurring to the carriageway.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Council, said: “It’s hoped the works will be completed earlier.

“The road has had to be closed permanently following the collapse of a retaining wall late Wednesday afternoon. Since then temporary lights have been controlling the flow of traffic during which time a thorough assessment has been carried out.”

A diversion has been put in place. The diversion route is as follows:

  • A663 Milnrow Road, Oldham
  • B6197 Buckstones Road, Oldham
  • A672 Oldham Road, Oldham
  • A640 Rochdale Road, Oldham
