Road collapses under weight of machinery

Huddersfield Road between Newhey and Denshaw was closed yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 4 May) after part of the road gave way under the weight of a 50-tonne piledriver.
The incident happened at 4.30pm causing chaos during rush hour.
Nobody was injured.
The road is open today (Thursday 5 May) with temporary traffic lights in place.
Engineers from the Impact Partnership are onsite carrying out assessments.
