Healey Primary School
Welcome back to this very short half term. In spite of being only 4 weeks before the half term Spring Bank Holiday break, the children will be kept very busy. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be sitting the SATs tests during this week and next.
There will be no music tuition next week due to the Year 6 SATs. You have not been charged for this.
We are starting the ‘Walk Once a Week’ initiative. Children who walk once a week to school can earn badges, keep an eye out for posters and promotional literature. It would be fantastic if we can follow on the success of The Big Pedal. Children are encouraged to continue to come by bicycles, scooters and on foot, maybe even on roller-blades!
The following week, on Tuesday Year 5 and 6 are taking a trip to Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum to look at the World War 2 artefacts. This will be a full day and all parents should have received details of requirements for the trip and the itinerary for the day.
On the evening of Wednesday 18 May Year 5 have been invited to perform their Choral Speaking entry at the Celebration Concert held at The Riverside, Whitworth. Tickets for the event are on sale from the Music Service.
The following week Stuart Sawle will be presenting an assembly on Monday 23 to promote the Rotary Boxes for Eastern Europe so if you wish to take part you could begin to collect small items to put into the boxes from now. The Senior Citizen’s Tea Party is being held on Tuesday 24 May. Letters will be sent out soon asking for numbers and names of senior citizens you would like to invite. The children will be performing pieces from the Music Festival all afternoon, and tea and cakes will be served to our visitors.
Year 5 and 6 are taking part in more street dance training courtesy of Samba – this is happening on Wednesday and Thursday 25 and 26 May. The children have asked for another opportunity to learn about street dance and are being rewarded for all their hard work this term. School finishes for the next half term break on Friday 26th May.
Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Cup on the last day of term:
Reception: Abbi Bywater
Year 1: Jessica Jones
Year 2: Poppy Carty
Year 3: Sophie Nightingale
Year 4: Adam Mew
Year 5: Cameron Mara
Year 6: Levi Williamson
Year 3 managed 100 per cent attendance in the last week, with the excellent attending Year 5 coming next with 98.7 per cent. However the whole school attendance was 98.2 per cent which is OUTSTANDING. Thank you to parents who are supporting us so well.
Finally, the children returned on the last day of term from 3 days at Robinwood tired, bedraggled and happy. The children had a wonderful time as usual and many are already planning for next year.
