Healthy living message aired to community

Health and well being were high on the cards at a special health event held in Kirkholt.

The event, held at the Kirkholt Youth Centre was hosted by the Kirkholt Medical Practice. The medical team wanted to reach out to the community with a healthy living message and thought the Youth Centre would be the best platform.

The Strand pharmacy, health trainers, dieticians and Link4life, also attended.

Kirkholt practice manager , Carol Fowles, said: “I am really pleased that the event went well. For us at the Kirkholt practice this was not just about promoting good health, but also showing that as a practice we have a community outlook and we want to be a part of it.”

Councillor Dale Mulgrew visited the health event and had his blood pressure and his cholesterol checked.

Councillor Mulgrew, said: “I don’t think many of us get checked over for our health as often as we should, and I know that I am guilty of this as the next person.

“I thought this event organised by one of the local GP surgeries was a really positive way of getting out health messages to a wider audience. I want to encourage as many people from Kirkholt as possible to use local health services.”
