Staff members from PDS raised over £4,000 for Springhill Hospice
Performance Doorset Solutions, based in Littleborough, have raised over £4,000 for Springhill Hospice.
Members of staff spent two days of their Easter break cycling 170 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Yorkshire Coast.
The staff members who took part were: Tim Fairley, Graeme Davies, Peter Dawson,
They were joined by Pat Rice, Sales Director of Allan Brothers in Berwick and ably supported by Chris Moon, PDS Purchasing Director, driving the van and supplying assistance where needed.
Mr Fairley, Director at PDS, said: “Springhill Hospice holds a strong connection to all of us in the local area because of the great work they do.
“As a business we feel it is important to provide as much help to local charities as we can, so that is why we came up with the idea of the bike ride.”
PDS decided that rather than following the norm they would create their own bike riding event.
Peter Dawson added: “Although it was hard work and our legs and bums are paying for it now, it was a very worthwhile thing to do and we are over the moon to raise the money for what is a very fundamental charity for our local community.”
Ian Jenkins, Fund Raising manager for the Hospice, added: “It is great when local businesses help to donate their time and money to help fund the Hospice.
“Well done to PDS for completing the cycle and thanks to those who sponsored them. We wouldn’t able to keep going without the generous donations that we receive.
“The hospice needs to raise £7500 each day in order for us to keep providing the care that we do so every help we get is greatly appreciated.’
