The Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home has received a kind donation of £1,000 from the Freemasons’ Royds Lodge No 816.
The Home was one of the charities chosen by Councillor Peter Evans in his year as Master of the Lodge.
Councillor Evans is well known for supporting the Moorland Home, situated in the beautiful moorland above Rochdale, because it was one of the charities he supported in his Mayoral year in 2007.
Today (Tuesday 26 April 2011) Councillor Evans visited the home, joined with his wife Helen and granddaughter Tilly, to present a cheque to Chairwoman of the Committee, Jane Barker.
Councillor Evans said he wanted to “raise awareness” about The Home. He has vowed to continue raising funds for the charity and added that his year as Mayor had “set the ball rolling.”
Ms Barker, said: “It is enormously pleasing to receive this money. It will go towards the trips in the summer holidays.”
The money is a welcome contribution to the centre following funding cuts from the Council.
