The children try out their new jackets
Members of ‘Hands On at Howard Street’ have been presented with 40 high visibility jackets to help keep the children safe in the dark.
Hands on at Howard Street is the Parent Forum at the Howard Street Sure Start Children’s Centre.
The group have taken part in a number of fundraising activities including raffles at Christmas to eventually hit the target to buy 40 jackets that the children can wear over the top of their coats.
There are now enough jackets for the children at Howard Street Children’s Centre and next door at Howard Street Nursery School.
Parents Forum members Helen Smith and Assea Khan and the owner of Moses School wear, Mr Istikhar Jalil presented the 40 jackets to Helen Back, the nursery school teacher.
The aim is to make sure children can be seen when travelling on the pavement and when crossing the road. This is in line with the Every Child Matters aim of keeping families safe.
