Lib Dem leaflet leads to legal action

A Liberal Democrat local election leaflet which suggests money for Trade Unions was paid to the Labour Party in Rochdale have been reported to the police.
The Leader of the Labour group in Rochdale, Councillor Colin Lambert, told Councillors that he sought legal advice after the Liberal Democrats printed the leaflets and on advice of the electoral commission he has subsequently reported the matter to the police
Councillor Lambert said the Electoral Commission who told him that there were several points that made the leaflet illegal.
The points include a “deliberate intention to mislead” and there being no “imprint” meaning the author can’t be contacted.
Councillor Lambert said he was advised to contact Greater Manchester Police and this has now “taken place.”
