Fundraisers host ‘Daffodil Tea’

Date published: 02 April 2011

Fundraisers from St Andrew’s Church in Rochdale hosted a ‘Daffodil Tea’ event today (Saturday 2 April 2011) in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Members of the congregation filled the church hall on Smith Street with daffodils and stalls to raise much needed funds for the cancer charity.

Each year the church chooses a different charity to raise money for and chose Marie Curie following a suggestion from a church goer. Because of its daffodil logo the church chose to host a daffodil themed afternoon tea.

Visitors were treated to a host of stalls, including daffodil postcards, daffodil cakes and daffodils in vases – the vases were made by the congregation during in a recent craft workshop.

They also enjoyed afternoon tea and cakes.

Brenda Jones who organised the fundraiser, said: “We aim to raise as much money as possible we will be here all afternoon and are expecting a good turnout, especially now that the sun is shining – that makes all the difference.”

UPDATE: Proceeds from the day were an amazing £552.

In addition, the Hamper Raffle made £116 towards funds for the Church's September Flower Festival.
