Update: M60 is open again from junction 21

10:00am - Motorists are being advised to avoid part of the M60 after a man is believed to have fallen from a bridge.

M60 Greater Manchester, anti-clockwise between A663 Broadway (M60 junction 21) and A664 Manchester New Road (M60 junction 20).

M60 closed and queueing traffic anticlockwise from J21, A663 (Hollinwood) to J20, A664 (Higher Blackley), because of a serious police incident. Diversion in operation - follow the 'hollow diamond' symbol to rejoin at J20. Congestion to J23, A6410 (Ashton Under Lyne).

Just before 6.30am on Friday 1 April 2011, police were called to a section of the M60 at junction 20, following reports a man had fallen from a bridge.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway is currently closed from junction 21 and motorists are advised to find alternative routes. The carriageway is expected to remain closed for much of the morning.
