Mother's appeal for help to find missing son

Date published: 31 March 2011

The mother of a missing teenager is urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police.

Ciaron Nuttall, aged 19, from Oldham was last seen on Cardigan Street, Royton on 5 March 2011.

He is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with short brown hair and has links to Oldham and Rochdale and family members in Wigan. Police have also received reports that he was spotted in Bacup, Lancashire, but this proved not to be true.

His phone and social network accounts have not been used since that time, which is out of character and he has not accessed his bank account.

His mum, Ann Marie Walls, said: "I am going out of my mind with worry and am desperate to hear Ciaron's voice.

"No one should have to go through what our family is going through and I just want to know that he is safe and well.

"If anyone knows where he is or has seen him at any time since he went missing please let the police know."

Ciaron, a brother of one, was reported missing by his mother on 10 March 2011 after he failed to return home for fresh clothes as she thought he was staying with friends.

In their efforts to find him, detectives have spoken to numerous friends and family members, conducted extensive house to house enquiries, made an appeal through the media, are trawling CCTV in the area and are analysing data from his mobile telephone.

Detective Inspector Dave Massey, of Oldham CID, said: "We are carrying out extensive inquiries to try and find Ciaron and identify his last known movements.

"If anyone has any knowledge that might help me please get in touch.

"We know Ciaron has some family worries but I want to assure him these matters can be resolved and if he is reading or hearing this appeal please pick up the phone and call your mother or the police."

Anyone with information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161 856 8951, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
