Big writing challenge:
Focus for the week
Over the past week, the children have been learning about ‘sayings and expressions’.
Next we will be looking at ‘ synonyms and antonyms’ or in plain language words which have a similar meaning and words which have opposite meanings. ‘Courage’ and ‘bravery’ are synonyms whilst ‘deep’ and ‘shallow’ are antonyms. Parents and Carers, can you encourage the children to work at these at home and set them a challenge to find as many as possible?

Class 3 and 5 visit to Liverpool museum:
Next Thursday, Class 3 and class 5 will be visiting Liverpool museum in support of their topic on ‘Space’. A letter has been sent home with further details.

Building work:
The old hall has now been transformed into a modernised ‘early years’ setting.
The new steps and ramp into the school from Ann Street are now in use. Parents children and visitors are now able to access school through the original pedestrian pathway and then down the steps or ramp bringing you to the Reception entrance and other areas of the school.

The old Nursery and Reception class building are due to be demolished this week to make way for the new extension to be built.

Our ‘statement of belief’ for the week:
This week’s statement of belief is ‘I know what humility means’

Parking and traffic issues:
Parents and carers, please be aware of the parking restrictions in the area around school.

Children’s safety is of course paramount so please make use of the school crossing patrol where appropriate and make sure children are well supervised at all times.
Due to the on-going metro-link work, there are road closures in the immediate area of school. There is also a temporary one way system in the vicinity so please take care and have patience at all times!

Family holidays:
Thank you for only taking family holidays during school holiday time. No family holidays will be authorised during term time. If your child is off school at any time due to illness then please contact the school office first thing to let us know.
