Learners Celebrate Achievements
A group of learners from Langley and Rochdale have celebrated their achievements.
The group attended a five week course to increase their employability skills and boost their confidence.
Learners completed lessons in effective CV writing, interview techniques and writing successful application forms. On completion of the course the group received an OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations) accredited qualification.
Langley resident, Bernard Collett, 47, said: “It is a very well run course, with lots of topics, easily understandable, confidence building and learning in every session”.
Sharon Spence, 26 from Kirkholt, added: “I feel this course has helped me with self confidence and given me the opportunity to meet new people. It has helped a lot in relation to applying for jobs.”
Laura Allen, Course Tutor from Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale, said: “I am very pleased with the progress of all the learners and delighted that so many have gone on to other successful outcomes including further training and volunteer work.”
The Employability Skills course was delivered at Langley Sure Start Children’s Centre and Burnside Community Centre by skills tutors from Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale and with funding from Rochdale MBC’s Priority Investment Fund.
Helen Chicot, Skills and Employment Manager at Rochdale Council, added: “This course is a fantastic example of community learning. It’s great to see so many of the learners progressing into new skills provision. Each of them is proving that improving skills changes lives and I'm thrilled that this programme was a success”.
