Dancers put best foot forward

The Rochdale Sixth Form College Dance Showcase leapt into the College Theatre recently with tremendous funk, poise and technique.

The showcase, the first of its kind, featured a collection of examination work from AS-level dance students and dance enrichment students.

The AS dance pieces were choreographed by the students themselves, with a range of intriguing and challenging pieces being covered from modern twists on Tchaikovsky to street dance with a “Missy/Usher Fusion”

The hour-long show was performed to a packed out audience.

A level Dance teacher Stacey Pike, said: “Both our AS dance students and our weekly enrichment groups have worked so hard.

“Rehearsals have been underway since January and their attention to detail was rewarded with some stunning performances.”

Vice Principal, Tony Day, added: “To put on performances of such a high standard is quickly becoming the norm at Rochdale Sixth Form College. It is what we expect and continuously strive for.

“Our students are talented but we push them hard because we believe in them being stretched.

“Our performances so far have been stunning.

“It comes from commitment, hard work and the high expectations that students and staff have of themselves.”
