Deeplish Primary School.
It was Governors’ Week at school. Governors were invited in to school to take part in or watch lessons. Thank you to all the governors who attended and thank you to all the staff for welcoming the governors in to their classes. It was greatly appreciated.
We had two groups performing in the Rochdale Youth Festival of Performing Art. The first group were our school choir who performed two songs at the Town Hall. They got a good report from the judge for their excellent singing. For the first time we had two singers competing. How brave they were to stand up and sing, unaccompanied in front of a large audience at Greenbank School. They too received some excellent comments from the judge. Well done, Halima, Zainab and the school choir. Deeplish School is proud of you. Thank you also to the staff who accompanied them to these events.
What a fantastic afternoon Miss Kiely’s class had at Kingsway Park High School. This was the second of their visits to study music with an animal theme. The children used keyboards and percussion instruments to make sounds of animals of their choice. Thank you Kingsway Park staff for your hard work and lovely welcome with all the classes who visit your school.
Thursday saw two trips on the train out by Reception and Miss Butterworth’s classes. Reception went to Manchester and had a visit around the Cathedral and a talk by Steve, the Stationmaster of Victoria Station. Miss Butterworth’s class visited Hebden Bridge to do some work on their “houses” theme. They looked at and drew different sorts of houses, including houseboats on the canal and fed the ducks and geese. One of the ducks got very cross that the children were getting too close and tried to bite poor Miss Butterworth. The children also had a great time on the play park. Mrs Taylor’s class went on the same trip on Friday. Thank you children for your excellent behaviour on these trips. As usual Deeplish Children when out of school are a credit to themselves and the school.
Susan Aggarwal, the artist who is helping us with the artwork for the new school came in to school on Friday afternoon. She worked with 9 year 5 children beginning to develop 3D artwork for the foyer of our new school.
Attendance Champions this week were Mrs Akhtar’s and Miss Regan’s classes. Early Birds were Mrs Taylor’s, Mrs Afzal’s, Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s and Miss Kiely’s classes. Children in these classes arrived on time every day. 100 per cent attendance prizes went to Maryam and Hafsa.
