Cannabis farm found in Heywood

Date published: 25 March 2011

Police in Heywood have closed down a cannabis farm.

Just before 9.00am on Thursday 24 March 2011, officers from Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address on Coomassie Street.

Inside, officers found 50 plants and equipment used to cultivate cannabis.

Inquiries are ongoing.

Inspector Stephen Clarke from Greater Manchester Police’s Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This seizure proves that we are dedicated to ridding our communities of drugs and stopping those responsible from making a living out of other people’s misery.

“I would urge anyone who knows about the production of cannabis in the area to contact police and help us rid the community of drugs and those who deal in them.”

Anyone who has information on the cultivation or dealing of drugs should phone police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
