Date published: 24 March 2011

Members of the Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT), based on Drake Street, celebrated their Annual Report this afternoon (Thursday 24 March 2011).

To mark the occasion representatives from Rochdale businesses, Councillors from across the borough, the Trust’s trustees and the Deputy Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Alan Godson joined with the team at RCT to celebrate.

The report contains information about all the things RCT has achieved in the past 12 months. This includes:

  • A young runaway project
  • The young parents’ project
  • Alternative education through ‘key4life’
  • Targeted youth support - in conjunction with Rochdale schools
  • A summer transition project
  • Drop in sessions
  • School holiday activities

Daniel Hutton, 15, who attends RCT was presented an award from Deputy Mayor Godson for completing a food hygiene course.

The Trust, now in its 12th year, is a provider of specialist and accredited mentoring services for young people and adults who are finding life difficult in some way.

Kathy Thomas, one of the Trust’s founders, said: “We have had a really good year. We have been working with families for the first time and we have been working with young dads.

“Today is to celebrate, to raise our profile and to let people know we are still here.”

Vivien Carter, chairwoman of the Rochdale Connections Trust, added: “Today shows a glimpse of what we have achieved in 12 years. We are a different organisation from when we started. We don’t believe we are experts in anything we just sign post the young people to the experts.

“We are proud of the way we have grown. Here’s to the next 12 years.”
