Letters were issued to pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10 for our Creative, Expressive and Performing Arts Faculty visit to Liverpool. The visit includes a tour of the Liverpool Tate Gallery, the FACT Film and Media Centre and the Everyman Theatre. The day includes a practical drama workshop based on ‘Macbeth’ led by Liverpool Education Officer and an evening performance of the show, featuring David Morissey and Jemma Redgrave.

Mr DeCourcey and Ms. Gott will be continuing our Drama Club sessions with Greenbank Primary school this week. The theme for the club has been ‘pirates’ and so far the group have been burying treasure on a mysterious island. The story continues for the next two weeks. The club takes place every Thursday from 3.15pm until 4.15pm at Greenbank School.

Our ‘Macbeth’ Model Set Competition is released this week and pupils from all years can take part. There are some great prizes up for grabs. For more details you can obtain an application form from the CEPA office or see Mr DeCourcey.

Year 10 and Year 11 Drama students are now busy rehearsing pieces for assessment. Pupils are welcome to book rooms for rehearsal use at lunchtime or after school but they are asked to see Mr DeCourcey, Ms Gott or Mr Mvula first. Please ensure that your entire group can attend before you book a room.

We would welcome any unwanted hats from parents or friends of the school for our props cupboard. If you have any hats, particularly flat caps or any plain designs, then all donations would be gratefully received as we try to replenish our stock. Please send all donations into school for the attention of Mr DeCourcey.

Many thanks to Mrs Kokocki and her class who sold buns as part of our Comic Relief activities last week. All proceeds will be donated.

We wish all our music groups good luck as they rehearse their performances in readiness for The Rochdale Festival and the forthcoming ‘Pulse’ show which takes place on Tuesday 29 March from 7.00pm until 9.00pm. Tickets are on sale in school, priced at £3.00. Proceeds from the show are now being given to support the Japanese Tsunami disaster. Special wristbands, priced at £1.00 can also be bought from BTEC Music students in school at the CEPA office. Please see Mr DeCourcey or Ms Williams for more details.

There will be a ‘Connect 4’ Competition open to all years organized by The Maths Faculty in U14 from 4 April to 8 April at 1.15pm. If you are interested, collect an entry form from the Maths Office and hand it in with your entry fee of 50p by Friday 1 April. Early lunch passes are available for participants, and monetary prizes can be won for 1, 2 and 3 place. Spectators are welcome, so come along and cheer along your friends.

Many thanks to Ms Barrett for organizing the trip to Strike Ten Bowling. The 11 pupils that went thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were able to practice their social skills as well as develop their bowling expertise. A good time was had by all.
