Musicians to raise money for Japan
Date published: 24 March 2011
Musicians from Rochdale and further afield a preparing for an eight hour music show to raise money for Japanese Tsunami Appeal.
Live 4 Japan, will see a host of music performed from live bands, duos, and individual vocalists.
The event, which will be held in May, is the brainchild of guitar tutor and Idol Frets lead guitarist Nigel Pickering.
Mr Pickering said: “It was heartbreaking to see the events unfold in Japan, I wanted to do something positive to help.
“A post on Facebook and a word with musicians at our weekly jam sessions was enough.
“Within a week we had enough volunteers to fill an eight hour gig.
“All the musicians are giving their time completely free of charge over the Bank Holiday weekend; it shows the kindness of our local music community.”
