At the Rochdale Youth Festival of Performing Arts Anusia Battersby performed ‘The Summer Before the War’ the Vocal section. Anusia was delighted with her runners up medal. The school choir also were runners up in their Vocal section, having sung ‘Yellow Submarine’ and ‘What the World Needs Now’. Sara Idris and Bethany Moat were both Highly Commended in the respective sections.

Year 2 enjoyed planting four fruit trees in Broadfield Park on Friday. They planted two cherry trees, one apple and one plum tree. Bob the park keeper told them all about how to plant the trees. They will be checking on progress regularly and hope it won't be long until they can eat some of the fruit.

Daisi Daniels represented Beech House School at the British Interschool Skiing Championships 14 & 15 March 2011 in Les Houches France. Daisi was in the Mini 1 age group (age 8 and under).
Each day there were 3 Giant Slalom races with the best 2 times to count for each day. Daisi came 1st on both days of the races and was awarded 2 Gold medals, one for each day.
Daisi was the skier of the competition winning all her races by over 8 seconds - a large time scale in skiing races. Then she was awarded with the Martin Prohaczka Memorial Trophy for Sporting Endeavour. Previous winners have gone to represent GB in the winter Olympics.
Daisi's next race will be the Mini 1 section of the British Children's Championships in Meribel France.

Key Stage 3 swimmers from Beech House swam in the North West Inclusion Gala held in Salford. The boys team of Alex Hannah, James Riley, Rudi Worth, Yusif Suoud and Thomas Valentine were placed third. In the girls event Amy Platt won gold in the freestyle, Amy Fyrer the backstroke and Victoria Burnett the breaststroke. Anusia Battersby made up the gold medal winning relay team. Congratulations to the girls who won the girls event. Rudi Worth picked up the medal for the swimmer of the gala.

The House swimming gala took place this week with swimmers from the Upper Prep and Senior Departments competing at the Central Leisure pool. Although there were no records broken, there were a large number of close and exciting races. The final scores were Saturn 80, Neptune & Mercury 72 and Jupiter 53. The trophy was collected by Jack Brook and Ollie Tomkinson, on behalf of Saturn

Beech House Basketball teams had a good week. The under 11 team beat St. John’s A team 10 : 2 and their B team 6 : 2. The Key Stage 4 team beat Broadwalk 32 : 4 in the small schools league.

Parents of Year 9 pupils are reminded that it is Parents Evening, when options will be discussed, on 29 March.

The Form of the Week is Year 9R.The House Point totals are : Jupiter 24, Neptune 27, Mercury 48, and Saturn 51.
