Deeplish Primary School.
On Monday, we welcomed Lloyd the nutritionist in to work with nursery pupils.
Thank you to our parents for attending Parents’ Evenings on Monday and Tuesday. More parents than ever came in to find out how their children are doing. Thank you also to staff for their hard work before and during these evenings. Ms Burrow and Mr Dysch were able to talk to many parents and show them the latest plans for the new school.
On Wednesday, Ms Ahmed, our Family Support Worker attended presentations at the Town Hall for parents receiving certificates for training they have completed. Congratulations to them all.
Twenty Year 5 children went with Mr Lyons and Miss Kelly to Elmwood School in Middleton. As part of our Community Cohesion initiatives, the two schools are working together with maths as the theme.
Following on from the last visit, another class from Holy Rosary School in Liverpool visited Deeplish, this time working with Miss Kiely’s class. They had a great day doing drama, potting plants, trying samosas and pakoras and finishing off their day by visiting Neeli Mosque. Thank you to all staff in Area 2 for your hard work during these 2 visits.
Our year 1 children had a visitor on Thursday afternoon. They should have been going to St John’s Church but it was being used, so Father Chris came to talk to the children in their classroom. Thank you for your time, Father Chris, it was good to meet you.
Mrs Afzal’s class told us all about Florence Nightingale in their excellent assembly to the whole school on Thursday afternoon.
Mrs Vickers’ class went to Kingsway Park High School to continue with their animal theme. The music they listened to was “Noah’s Ark”.
Ms Burrow and several of the governors toured the building site on Friday morning accompanied by Mr Williams, site manager for Jackson and Jackson, building contractors. They were able to see the building taking shape and imagine what it will look like when it is finished. Most of the children also went to look at the building during the week. It is very exciting to see how much work has been done.
Attendance champions of the week were Mrs Campbell-Starlings class with 100% and Mrs Afzal’s class. Early Bird awards went to Mrs Afzal’s and Miss Regan’s classes. 100% attendance prizes went to Adil and Zain. Congratulations.
