Oulder Hill BSF business case submission given the go ahead

Date published: 21 March 2011

Councillors have tonight (Monday 21 March 2011) approved the submission of the final business case for the Oulder Hill Community and Language College BSF (Building Schools for the Future) scheme.

Partnerships for Schools (PfS) require the submission of a Final Business Case (FBC) to firm up Authority proposals.

In particular, they wish to see any changes in the scope, affordability, proposed procurement route or deliverability of the project since the Outline Business Case was submitted and approved 2008.

Cuts were made nationally to the BSF scheme in July 2010 but schools in Rochdale were saved because they had reached a stage where they were considered advanced enough to continue.

Oulder Hill Community and Language College forms Phase2b of the BSF programme.

The proposed Oulder Hill scheme comprises remodelling/refurbishment works of the existing Sixth Form area. New classroom facilities will be provided and the existing three dining rooms consolidated into one dining space.

Temporary accommodation will not be required during construction.

Remodelling and refurbishment works to the existing facilities will be carried out in a phased manner, with major works to key areas of the school planned for school holiday periods where possible to minimise disruption and avoid any loss of facilities.

All construction works are scheduled to be completed by September 2011.

The Final Business Case Process takes around 6 weeks to be approved by PFS.
