Date published: 21 March 2011
The rental price for the homelessness service accommodation units is to increase by 7.15 per cent.
Councillors agreed the rise at a cabinet meeting held tonight (Monday 21 March 2011).
The rental charges of each of the Homelessness Units – Leopold Court, Great Howarth and the dispersed flats are recommended to increase by 7.15 per cent in line with the proposed average rent increase for Council properties.
The increases will start from 1 April.
The weekly rental charges to clients will be increased as follows:
- Leopold Court – from £209.36 to £224.32
- Great Howarth – from £215.13 to £230.51
- Dispersed flats - £1.66.76 to £178.68
The report presented to Councillors reads: “In order to ensure that sufficient resources are available for homeless accommodation charges are reviewed annually.
“The cost of homeless accommodation is funded from charges made to individual clients. In the majority of cases the rent element of charges to the clients is financed by Housing Benefit.”
