Key 103 at Redwood - Students in key stage 4 had the opportunity to visit the Key 103 studios in Manchester to learn about the many aspects of preparing a radio show. Their work is now on line at http://www.key2radio.com/school/redhillradio and photos and information will be added. Many thanks to Mr Barnes who is leading this exciting development.

A big congratulations and well done goes to two of our post 16 students, Daniel W and Rebecca who attended Rochdale Town Hall to receive an Achievement Award from the Mayor. Well done!!

Tesco Vouchers We are collecting vouchers for sports equipment—may we ask you to please send your vouchers into school. Thank you.

Key stage 4 has now uploaded the first radio show to www.key2radio.com, and will soon be adding photographs and information to the radio station’s webpage. It is our intention to prepare a radio show each week and upload it every Friday, starting on the 25 March. The focus for the station will very much be Redwood. As the show develops we would expect to have song suggestions from pupils or staff that wish to contribute, and we will be reporting on events across the school.

Sixth form news - a number of students from Redwood sixth Form have been involved in a community development project in association with Rochdale Youth Service. The students have been attending Middleton Arena every Friday night since January and participating in a range of healthy lifestyle activities such as swimming, trampolining, 5 a side football, table tennis, the use of the mobile youth bus and shokk gym are a few of the many activities the students enjoy each week. In addition to this some students attended a showcase event where young people from Middleton displayed a range of talents in front of a 400 strong audience. Throughout the project and the showcase event they have made many new friends, learned a range of new skills, enjoyed and achieved positive outcomes.

Dave from the Rochdale Youth Service said “All students have displayed positive behaviour and enthusiasm for the project and have acted as fantastic ambassadors for 6th Form.”
