Joy as pathway fully restored

Date published: 15 March 2011

Residents in Norden are all smiles following the repair work carried out on a pathway known locally as ‘the rake.’

The lane, close to Scott House at the top of Clay Lane, has been fully resurfaced following damage caused from a burst water main.

The pathway, which links to Jowkin Lane, is very popular and was decimated by the flow and strength of running water.

Norden Councillor Ann Metcalfe has visited the path with resident Karen Whittle and is delighted with the results.

Councillor Metcalfe, said: “"It was upsetting when visiting the site to witness how this beautiful area had been ruined.

“I must thank our Highways Officers, United Utilities and their contractors Gallaghers who after I contacted them worked together to repair all the damage.

“The pathway has been restored to its former state and can once again be enjoyed by the numerous walkers and riders who use this beautiful area.”
