This week’s theme was Lent and our Enterprise capability was Initiative.

Students from all year groups have been busy organising fundraising events for the various Lenten charities. Sponsored events and activities have been taking place all week and we still have many more events planned for the remaining weeks in school before Easter.

Mrs Biesty and Miss Farrelly spent this weekend visiting some of our feeder parishes to speak during Mass about our annual sixth form visit to Lourdes. We raised over £500 from the kind donations of our generous parishioners. Thank you to everyone who contributed and for those who remember us in their prayers.

Congratulations to our Year 10 Media GCSE class who recently won a competition run by The Enterprise Village, to go to London to work with a professional video company. They had to submit an idea for a film to promote enterprise education. All 5 groups from the class made it to the final 12 and it then went to a public vote. The prize is for the group to go to London and work with a professional video company to produce their own video.

Welcome back to our sixth form history students who had a tour of the Houses of Parliament on Friday. They also went to the National Portrait Gallery where they were shown around by Helen Corcoran, Communications Officer. They then went on to see 'Woody Sez' - an award winning play about Woody Guthrie and the depression in America. The next day, the students went to the Imperial War Museum, specifically the Holocaust exhibition, and later went to Covent Garden before getting the train home.

Year 7 news - You have to be in to win - Well done Miss Kinsella and form 7.8 with a weekly attendance of 100 per cent. Congratulations to Brian Ncube, form 7.8, our weekly attendance challenge winner. Mrs Garvey and form 7.4 presented an assembly launching the Year 7 chosen Lenten charity which is again Francis House. A representative from Francis House thanked the year group in anticipation of their support. Mr Lockett and form 7.5 have organised a marathon to support our chosen charity, all the year group will participate. Please be as generous as possible for this wonderful cause.

Kye White, Rochdale schools sports coordinator presented awards to form groups and individuals in recognition of their successes in recent dodge ball and table tennis tournaments. Well done to the year 7 Basketball ball team who recently played Crompton House and came away winning 22- 18.
