Questionnaires to help transport bosses improve travel

Date published: 02 March 2011

Bus passengers heading into Manchester city centre will be quizzed on their travel patterns this month, as transport leaders look to develop a snapshot of current travel.

From 7-30 March, survey forms will be handed out to passengers travelling on buses into the city centre.

The resulting information will help GMPTE and other public organisations in Greater Manchester understand travel patterns to inform future transport plans.

Surveys of tram and train passengers were carried out at the end of last year.

Dave Newton, GMPTE’s Transport Strategy Director, said: “Good quality information on how, why and where people travel is vital to help us consider how we can improve it for everyone.

“So I would encourage anyone who is handed a questionnaire to complete the form and return it to us.”

Questionnaires can be returned by Freepost or online at www.gmtu.gov.uk/surveys by quoting the serial number on the form. Completed forms will be entered into a prize draw.

For more information about the surveys, call the Greater Manchester Area Transportation Surveys (GMATS) helpline on 0161 455 2066.
